Australian First Day Cover 13 May 2014 Bush Ballads: AB 'Banjo' Patterson set of 4 self adhesives from roll. The First Day Cover is unaddressed with a special cancel related to the issue.

Issued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Andrew Barton Banjo Paterson on 17 February 1864. Paterson was an extremely popular balladeer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Australia and his songs and poems are still known and loved today.

Patersons best known songs and poems are illustrated in this stamp issue: Clancy of the Overflow which demonstrates Patersons romanticism for bush life; "The Man from Snowy River which tells the tale of horsemen pursuing an escaped prizewinning colt in mountainous country; Waltzing Matilda which is probably the most famous of all Australian ballads, considered by some an unofficial national anthem and Mulga Bills Bicycle a humorous ditty written at the height of the 19th-century bicycling craze.
